They passed the bill. The big, beautiful bill—as they so proudly called it.
A bill that ripped food from hungry mouths. That slashed assistance for the sick, the disabled, and the working poor. A bill that kicked the stool out from under millions who were already barely standing.
And they had the audacity to gather on the Senate floor, hand in hand, praying as they did it. Christians and Republicans—so-called protectors of morality and life—bowing their heads in holy reverence while stabbing the most vulnerable in the back.
This wasn’t a bill that stopped fraud or closed loopholes. This was a declaration of war on the poor, the brown, the disabled, the aging, the ill, and the barely-getting-by. This wasn’t fiscal responsibility. It was spiritual depravity.
Because the truth is this:
It’s not “lazy people” who will suffer.
It’s the cancer patient who can’t work while receiving chemo.
It’s the mom working two jobs whose SNAP benefits keep her children fed.
It’s the disabled veteran whose body was broken in service to this country and now faces homelessness.
It’s the minimum-wage worker who doesn’t get sick days but still has to buy their insulin.
It’s the families already living on the edge who just lost their safety net.
Every American is one diagnosis, one accident, one job loss away from needing these benefits. And now those benefits are gone.
This bill isn’t just about economics. It’s about cruelty—calculated, religiously wrapped cruelty.
And as if that weren’t enough, this bill also expands funding for ICE, essentially greenlighting the militarization of hatred. We are pouring billions into hunting down our neighbors while cutting funds for their survival.
ICE has long operated like an unchecked force of domestic terror in immigrant communities. And now we’ve decided to reward that terror with even more money, more power, and more reach. Let’s be honest: we are funding American Gestapo tactics under the guise of national security.
We’ve militarized white nationalism. We’ve defunded compassion. And we did it with a prayer on our lips and Jesus bumper stickers on our SUVs.
So let’s be clear:
If your politics strip aid from the sick while fattening the boots of ICE agents, that’s not conservatism—it’s complicity.
If your religion is more concerned with tax breaks than feeding the hungry, it’s not Christianity—it’s idolatry.
This bill is a death sentence for some. A slow, grinding erasure of dignity for others. But for the privileged few who voted for it? It’s a campaign promise kept.
We are watching an empire eat its own, all while quoting scripture. And history will remember.
But we won’t wait for history to judge. We are here now, sounding the alarm—because silence is no longer an option. If we want a better country, we will have to build it ourselves. Not in the image of power, but in the image of justice, equity, and humanity.
Because no one should ever have to pray to survive in the richest country in the world.
