The Reality Show President Invades Venezuela

Once again, DJT has demonstrated that what matters to him is how things look, not how they work. This has been his MO in the presidency, and he was trained in this by starring in the Apprentice reality TV show. But for that show he had a producer and director who helped shape the show, helping it fit into the limitations of a TV show.

He doesn’t have either one of those in his presidency, he’s just taking ideas from his subordinates and approving them if he feels like it. Like the kidnapping of Maduro and the idea of running Venezuela. How do you run a country that has had a dictator? Oh, it’s about oil but the oil companies don’t want the oil? Someone else will figure it out, but didn’t America and DJT look powerful when they captured the leader? That’s what’s important.

And his base agrees. They have turned on a dime approving of the invasion, because whatever DJT wants is what they want. Even though he campaigned on America First, it doesn’t matter.

Everything is good to DJT if it looks good.

Quaker Karen left a career in corporate America to go to seminary to study religion. Since then she has written a book on how we can talk to each other in a new way that is more respectful and can help us solve our political differences: Persuade, Don't Preach.
