The most successful thing our current president did before running for president was star in The Apprentice for 14 seasons. I think those were formative years for him, because they were so successful. I think he’s handling his presidency as though he is starring on another show. One clue is that he’s extremely concerned about how he and others look – his comment about Mandami (Mayor elect for New York City) focused on looks, and his comment on the Chinese leader Xi focused on his hair.

A lot has been written about how the president picks people based on loyalty and that’s probably true. But he also picks on looks and ability to handle cameras. That’s the core of Secretary of Defense Hegseth’s qualifications as well as Jeanine Pirro (US attorney for the District of Columbia). That was the core of the message that Hegseth sent when he brought the generals in and told them to lose weight. And if Attorney General Pam Bondi or Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem weren’t good looking, they wouldn’t have been chosen.

But the difference between the show and the presidency is that Trump had a producer and director of the show that he had to take direction from. He doesn’t have that now. So, he’s getting hints of how to proceed from certain people, probably Stephen Miller and Russ Vought. (I wonder how they look?)
