This week the White House posted a meme with Donald Trump’s head replacing the actor playing Superman in the new film of the same name. The post was altered to read: THE SYMBOL OF HOPE. TRUTH. JUSTICE. THE AMERICAN WAY. SUPERMAN TRUMP.

What makes this especially sad is how Trump (or whoever posted this on the official White House Twitter (X) feed) doesn’t seem to understand WHY Superman is celebrated as a hero. It’s not because Superman has power to hurt people. It’s not because Superman uses his power to dominate others and force them to do what he wants. It’s not because Superman flies around in his cape so people can cheer for him.

In fact, what makes Superman heroic and celebrated is specifically because he would never do any of those things.

Trump wants to be seen as a hero of the people. But he doesn’t want to use his power to help those people who are suffering the most.

Trump wants to be celebrated as a powerful symbol of hope, but he doesn’t even know how to put the needs of others ahead of his own fragile ego.

What’s even more depressing is how Trump and his MAGA cult members don’t realize that he’s most accurately depicted as Lex Luthor, the mega-rich billionaire who hates everything Superman stands for and who is jealous of his power and fame.

Trump/Luthor uses social media to attack Superman’s status as an “illegal alien.” He uses an army of anonymously masked goons (dressed in black) to oppress the people that Superman wants to protect. His plan is to make himself a King and enrich himself as millions of innocent brown people suffer and die.

Trump, like Lex Luthor, wants to have everything that Superman has, but he is unwilling to do any of the things that Superman actually does.

Trump wants fame. Superman wears a disguise.

Trump craves power for himself. Superman uses his power for the good of others.

Trump wants to be worshipped. Superman wants to inspire people to love one another as fellow citizens of the human race.

Honestly, I really wish that Donald Trump could watch the new Superman film and wake up to the reality of who he is in this story.

I wish he could see that he’s the villain who needs to stop hurting people.

I wish he could become inspired by Superman’s integrity, honor and humility.

I wish that he wanted to become someone who people genuinely admired for being a good person.

But that might just be more unbelievable than a story about a man from another planet who can fly and shoot lasers out of his eyes.
